Sweet copper

So, I was already going to be late for work this morning...I was right around the corner and it was 9:02, so I was speeding, a bit. I came around a curve and saw a Police SUV sitting there, so I immediately slammed on the brakes. Apparently, it wasn't fast enough, because he put his lights on as I drove by and pulled me over. I was actually not too upset about it because I figured it would give me a legitimate reason to be late.

He walks up to the window and says, "License and registration please, mam." and I handed them over.

Then we had a nice little exchange that went like this:

He says, "You had your seatbelt on, right?"
I reply, "No, I didn't."
He says, "Sure you did!"
I reply, "No, I really didn't."
He says, "Yes. You had your seatbelt on and just took it off to find your license, right?"
I reply, "Ohhhh, yeah, of course I did!!!", with a smile
He says, "Well, there is the 'click-it or ticket' law here, so I need to verify that I did see you with your seatbelt on.", and stared at me...awkward silence.
I say, "Ohh, right, right...", and put my seatbelt on.

He thanked me and told me he'd just give me a written warning for doing 42 in a 30 as long as my paperwork checked out okay. It was fine, of course, and he gave me the warning. I'm grateful because I've never had a speeding ticket and I really didn't want to have to pay more insurance or add a step to my license.

Yay!

Why is it necessary to give me an assignment to create a presentation for you to bring to your trade show 2 days before you need it?

My engagement ring broke.

Everything is still there, the band just snapped off the side near the top. I'm not devastated, but I'm still bummed. I think I'm going to just have the diamond put in a new setting because the antique setting it's in now is just not going to hold up for the next 50 years. Then I'll take the setting it's in now and put a sapphire in it or something so I can still wear it.

The highs

Had a fantastic weekend.

Friday night was quality time spent with hubby, cleaning and Stargate-ing as usual on Fridays :)

Saturday was a whirlwind. We first went to my friend Trish's graduation party where I played some DS, John had a black man fall in love with him because he called him a ninja, egg salad on the floor, frosting on the wall, 2 clocks in the kitchen which at first I didn't get but now I do. And this picture:

After we left her party, we went over to John's brother's house for a birthday party for 3 / 9 of their kids! It was awesome to be there because we haven't seen most of them in years except in pictures. They're the cutest bunch of kids and so smart! I have pics of the party, but I'm awaiting parental approval to post them here. When we were leaving, I snapped a couple pictures of 4/7 of the 'other' Magario kids. Here they are, happy:

After we left there, we rushed home to attend our own party we were throwing for our friends! We spent most of the time playing the Wii and Guitar Hero II on the PS2. Jenn and Beej took most of the pictures, but here's one of all of us:

Yesterday I was running all over creation, my mom's, John's parents', Dave's, Jenn's! Someone forgot their precious camera battery at my place and I had to return it.

My boss just walked in and asked me, "Is that a gray hair?" while tilting the side of his head toward me. I replied, "Uh oh, yeah it is." He walked out saying, "Damn, damn!"

Chuck Palahniuk's story Choke is going into production! With Sam Rockwell (and I don't know how casting could be more perfect).

If you've never heard of Chuck Palahniuk, he's the same guy who wrote Fight Club.

I can't wait for this movie!

Recently, I've tried to prevent myself from having natural "highs" because I have this anxiety about how bad the "low" will be after. So, I just try to stay somewhere in the middle.

Middle is boring. Middle sucks. Also, anxiety sucks.

I've realized that the lows come whether or not I enjoy the highs. So, I am on a natural high today that makes no sense at all and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
