Dus Buduhz

Question of the Day: Do you like surprises?
YES! I love surprises. Especially when it's someone doing something nice for me.
Even more so, I love to surprise other people. Whether it's giving them a gift or taking them somewhere or throwing them a party, I am a giver. Giving a gift makes me much happier than receiving one. If you're friends with me, chances are I've surprised you with things (gifts, cards, etc.) for no reason other than that I love you.
Oh, I'm so nice, aren't I friends?

Another? Well, John's a fungi and I wanted to share.

I was just discussing with John about how I'm such a hypochondriac this summer and he thinks he's a comedian.
He says, "You're going to get retroactive birth defects. You're going to all of a sudden develop club feet and holes in your heart."
I'm rofl.

I'm on a roll

Animals

Question of the Day: How many pets have you owned in your lifetime? Tell us about them.
I have owned a grand total of 10 pets. Here are the pets, in order and the years are the years I had them, not the years they lived.
#1. "Kitty" (84-88) - an orange and white fluffy cat with more patience than anyone or anything I've ever met. My little brother used to throw this cat around like it was a stuffed animal but she never scratched or bit anyone. She slept in bed with me every night and one day, she just disappeared. We suspected that our neighbor down the street stole her - it was this old woman who would feed Kitty all the time and talk about what a good cat she was.
#2. "Maxwell" (85-88) - a black lab, scared of his own shadow, possibly mildly retarded. Sweetest dog ever. I came home from school one day shortly after my dad had moved out and Maxwell was gone. I asked my mom where he was and she told me this story that I am still mad at her for telling. She STILL claims it's the truth but I KNOW it's a lie. Apparently, the fire department just happened to be cruising our neighborhood that day and saw Maxwell and decided that he would be such a good fire/police dog that they just HAD to have him. My mom just gave him to them. I was 8 and I knew she was lying. I said, "You gave him to the pound, didn't you?!?!? Now they're going to kill him!!!" Anyway, as I said, she still claims it's the truth.
#3. "Sheba" (88-88) - We were so distraught over the loss of Maxwell that we made my mother get us a new dog. It was a little mutt of some kind, brown and black, could fit in a purse. We named her Sheba...and I have NO clue why. Now, if I had picked the name She-RA...well, that I could understand, but Sheba, hm, I don't know. I think we only had her for 2 months before my mom gave her away because she claimed my brother and I did not take care of her like we said we would.
#4. "Lady" (93-98) - BEST DOG EVER. She was a collie/greyhound mix and the prettiest dog I have ever seen. She was grey with black spots, white feet and a white neck/chest like a Collie. She was the friendliest dog ever and so smart and intuitive you'd swear she was human. I miss Lady.
#5+6. "Boris & Natasha" (96-96) - 2 parakeets, impulse buy, had them for a month and decided I couldn't stand the squawking so I gave them away.
#7. "Splinter (96-96) - a rat, impulse buy, let him go under a dumpster in Southbridge after a few weeks because I realized that rats are ugly if you look at their face from underneath. The teeth: nasty.
#8. "Twink" (96-96) - a white bunny, free, boring pet, given away after a few weeks.
#9+10. "unnamed kittens" (99-99) - I was living in Alabama and my ex was working on a dairy farm (which means he smelled like crap all the time). There was a pregnant cat on the farm and when she had the kittens we took two. They were adorable and very well behaved but my ex decided they were a nuisance, so we gave them back to the farm.
That's about it. My favorite pet was Maxwell...maybe because he reminds me of the part of my childhood from 85-89 in Shrewsbury. That was the best time of my life. (Until I met John, of course)
Okay, your turn, tell me about your pets!

I'm not used to this.

So, a few weeks ago my new assistant started here. I've never really had to "manage" anyone before and I am just not used to it yet. I feel so guilty giving her the work because it's the most boring data entry crap that I just do NOT feel like doing. I am working on jazzing up a presentation right now, which is loads more fun than what she is doing.
Oh well, I guess crap rolls downhill, right? I'm just a little closer to the top of the hill now so I can roll the crap by me right down to the bottom where my assistant dwells. She's a high school girl who works here part-time a few days a week. Anyway, I don't like being in charge of anyone else at work. I like to just do my own thing. I don't think upper management would suit me at all.
Jenn and Jackie will be happy to hear that I am getting my aunt's wedding pictures tonight so I should have them scanned, printed and ready to scrapbook next week! My aunt was married a few years ago and recently, her husband went through heart surgery. They only ever got the proofs from the wedding, not an actual album. So, for Christmas, I am going to make them a wedding album and give them that with a framed 8x10 of the best picture of them. I'm so excited. I had my 13 year old cousin Matt come up with a cover story to get the pictures. He said that he had to write a paper for French class on some event in his life, so he chose his mom's wedding and told her he needed to bring the pictures to school for inspiration. Tonight, John has to stop over my aunt's house after work and order a magazine from Matt for the fundraiser he's doing at school and then go downstairs to my Nana & Papa's apartment and sneak out with the pictures. I love being sneaky. There will be tears on Christmas!
I just want to go home tonight but I have to go to the church for a meeting at 7pm. I'm meeting John there...and we're not going to get home until around 9pm. That means we probably won't get to watch anything we have Tivo'd. We have House, Heroes, Smith and who knows what else to watch! I hate being so busy!!!!

Waaahhh!!

I just found out that my husband is probably going to Vegas from 11/28 - 12/1 for work. Who is coming to live with me for those 4 days? I can't be alone for 4 days.
Please, refrain from the Vegas jokes (what happens there...). John would NEVER cheat on me, he'd rather die.

It's gonna be a bright, sun-shiny day!

Question of the Day: What is the last thing you think about before you go to sleep?
Usually, I'm up way later than I should be and therefore am thinking about how I'm not going to get enough sleep and I'm going to be tired the next day. Either that, or I'm not thinking about anything.
-----------------------------------
In the mornings, sometimes I'm anxious. I don't know if I'm just more susceptible to anxiety when I'm tired or what but I'm anxious even when there's nothing specific about which I should be worrying. The summer of 2006 is (for me) the time in my life when I came to terms with the fact that I am going to die. It could be 80, 60, 40 or 20 years from now, but it's going to happen. I guess I just never thought about it before - so when I did start thinking about it, I was flipping out over it. I know most of you who read this aren't religious people, but I am. All Jesus needed to offer us was his life as a sacrifice to cover our sins, but He offers us so much more. Not only is salvation free, but so is peace and love and understanding. Plus, when you are up against the devil and his angels, Jesus has your back! You're not going to lose to the powers of darkness when Jesus is on your side. It's impossible. That brings me comfort. I doubt I would have made it through without Him. Although there is still some lingering anxiety, I no longer dwell on death all day long and panic myself to the point that my chest is tight and I can't swallow.
-----------------------------------
I cut my own hair this morning. I took about 2.5 - 3 inches off. It's layered too, so that raises the difficulty, but it actually looks really good. I have received 3 compliments so far at work. If I'm that good at cutting my own hair, why should I go to the hairdresser again? It would just be a waste of $40!

red

My beautiful Mum came over to cook me and John dinner tonight. I had her wear the wig....and here are just a few of the 40 or so pictures she had me take. At one point she said, "ooh, wait, let me put on my lipstick!". Does anyone still wonder where I get it from?
She's so awesome. I love my Mommy

...and so it begins

I really can't stand it when people say that. I thought that show Vanished was okay until the main cop character used that phrase. Then, they were translating something that was written in some kind of Masonic code and I felt like I was watching Sesame Street again with some character sounding out a word. It was pretty obvious what the message said but he took forever to sound it out. John and I just looked at each other and laughed.
The office next to mine contains a bowl of regular and peanut m&m's...resistance is futile.

The goggle-box has me hooked.

Question of the Day: "What tv shows are you watching this season and why?"
I will be watching:

Jericho - One of my favorite books is "Swan Song" by Robert McCammon. It's a post-apocalyptic sci-fi, horror, drama, romance, thriller, comedy story in which small groups of survivors clash with one another. This show reminds me a bit of that book. In Jericho, the US is under attack. Bombs have gone off in Denver and Atlanta that we know of so far...and people are getting together trying to figure out what to do. The focus is on a group of people in a small town named Jericho, hence the title. John and I are both hoping this doesn't go the way of Threshold, a really good show that started last year but was cancelled after 4 or 5 episodes aired.

Prison Break - I've been watching this show since last season when it was on after 24. I got hooked. I do actually enjoy the show for the writing and acting, not just because I get to watch Wenty. It feels similar to 24 in that they don't leave you hanging for very long. Each episode is packed with things happening...not like a soap opera where they take 4 months just to resolve ONE thing. Whatever they left to be continued is usually continued in the very next episode. Plus, T-Bag is a great character - disgusting and twisted, but entertaining nonetheless.

Dr. Who - The new episodes are just fantastic! I hadn't seen Dr. Who since I was a kid and started to watch again last season when Christopher Eccleston took on the role. The writing is hilarious!

Smith - How could I not watch a show with Ray Liotta in it? The premiere episode was great, kept me right on the edge of my seat.

Vanished - This show is really not that good, in my opinion. However, since I started watching it already, I'm going to keep watching to see what happens.

John and I regularly watch Metalocalypse (highly recommended) because it's funny sh*t. They are only 15 minute episodes but they are a quality 15 minutes. It's on Adult Swim.

Also, see The Boondocks if you can. I believe it's on Adult Swim as well but I don't know because John is the Tivo master in our household.

The only reality show I have been watching lately (since American Idol and Big Brother have ended) is Project Runway. That's almost over though. Oh well, new American Idol in January!

Stargate SG-1's season is over and from what I hear, the show been cancelled because the people at the SciFi Channel are retards. I'll be very upset if there's no more SG-1. Call me a geek if you want, but I LOVE that show. Supposedly, Stargate Atlantis is going to continue, but we'll see.
What are you watching?

The GOOD touch.

I touched Ace's hand.

Uttråkad

I'm bored. I got an extra desk in my office today, so I now have a U-Shaped work space. This is a good thing because I NEVER have enough room to do my work. I'm a chronic pile-maker so I love surface area. The extra desk was something my boss Jay found in one of the trailers they are emptying. He said it was the same color on the bottom as my other two desks, which would be beige. Turns out, it's more of a let's call it "mustard". It's in the back.

Here's a nice grand view of the office. The only thing you can't see is that right inside the door on the right is a table and chair for ? I don't know why it's there, it doesn't need to be. I would rather have a tree or something.
I never update this - but today I did. I find that it has a lack of positive "moods" from which I can choose. It's great for days when I feel like crap.
On the side of my file cabinet, I have magnetic poetry. Sometimes, people write something pretty cool, like my friend Bob did. See here:
HOW-EVERRR, other times, people write things that are well, questionable. My boss, the President of the company wrote the following (the sausage one):
I drew a happy sun on my white board because sometimes when I'm here I am just depressed so I wanted to look at something cheery. Ain't he cute?
And I drew this little guy (Bob added the horns, tail, arms and legs) because he reminds me of John :)
So, this lovely morning, I arrived at work to find this on my desk. If you don't get it, I'm not going to explain it. Thanks Ron
I am soooooo excited! This Saturday, I will be at the American Idols concert in CT!!!!!!!!! Jenn and I have the same seats we had in Worcester, first row, just off the side of the stage! We're going to see Ace and Chris!!! ChAce!!!! Y'all think I'm crazy, but it's okay.
I dare you to say something mean about my new yellow desk. Who's first?
Okay, boredom cured for now.
Cheers

Friday night fun!

Last night, John and I went bowling with a group of people from my work. Some of them came over to our place for pizza first and then we met up with the rest at the Auburn bowling alley. It was a perfect opportunity to have some more wiggaliscious fun!
