Sleeping on the job!

Ahhh, I feel sort of refreshed. At lunch, I closed the door to my office, shut off the light and set an alarm on www.onlineclock.net to buzz at 1:00. I usually have a really hard time sleeping if I know that I won't be asleep long. For instance, if I wake up 15 minutes before my alarm is supposed to sound, I can't fall back asleep for those 15 minutes. I end up tossing and turning and being annoyed that I can't sleep. I figured I would have the same problem trying to nap today. I think I did actually fall asleep - I got to the point where you start thinking about random, ridiculous things. I was thinking about work and then suddenly found myself in a dialogue with a bedouin man in the desert. As soon as I realized I was thinking about that, I couldn't remember what the conversation was about. That's how I know I'm falling asleep - when things like that pop into my head. The scary thing is, I've had that happen a few times while driving recently. I do the extended blink thing when I'm really tired and driving and every so often, during the extended blink, my mind wanders and when I open my eyes I'm all freaked out because I know I was pretty close to just going to sleep and crashing!
My guess is that I slept 7-10 minutes of the 30 minutes I had for lunch. Well, now it's the ass end of the day and that makes me happy. Only 3 1/2 more hours and I can go home. John won't be there, so I'll have to entertain myself until my neighbor comes upstairs to help me finish John's Halloween costume! I have a few things Tivo'd that I will probably watch.
Speaking of television, I am so mad that they cancelled Smith. I guess you can't get too attached to new shows because half of them aren't going to stick around. Smith was a really good show though! I think it was just way under-promoted. I mean, Ray Liotta was the star of the show. How can a show starring Ray Liotta not make it? Anyway, the same thing happened last year with a show called Threshold (which is replaying on SciFi currently). It was a really good new sci-fi show but it was short-lived and just disappeared. These good shows don't make it, yet shows like Ghost Whisperer remain. Someone please explain this to me. Another show that I cannot believe is still around is Vanished. John and I are watching this show, but we fast forward through half of it because the dialoge is asinine and the main cop guy on there...this actor named Gale Harold...SUCKS. Or, the writing and directing is making him suck.
